Sh2-124 in Cygnus

Sharpless2-124 is an emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus. It lies 8,840 light-years from Earth. We view it through a densely populated region of the summer Milky Way, hence the multitude of foreground stars. The nebula is extremely dim and therefore has been dubbed “The Almost Nothing Nebula”. It is a star-forming region and is notable for its sharply winding dust lanes.
