Rod Pommier is a surgical oncologist and Professor of Surgery at Oregon Health & Science University. He is a nationally and internationally recognized expert on the surgical and other treatments of neuroendocrine tumors. He has been an amateur astronomer since age 12. He started astrophotography 40 years ago, imaging with gas hyper sensitized film and hand guiding the telescope throughout the exposures. He has been writing and publishing articles in Sky & Telescope and Astronomy magazines for 35 years, typically illustrated entirely with his own astrophotography. His images are frequently chosen as Astronomy Picture of the Day on Astronomy.com and as Editors’ Choice on SkyandTelscope.org. His images are frequently featured in Astronomy magazine. He is a frequent presenter on the Astro Imaging Channel on YouTube. He is a member of the American Astronomical Society and was recently elected a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society.
