M31, The Andromeda Galaxy, Central Third

The Andromeda Galaxy, M31, is so large that it cannot fit in the field of view of my telescope and CCD camera. Therefore, I had to shoot it in three separate panel: one for the northern third, one for the central third, and one for the southern third. This image shows the central third, which contains the central bulge and hub of the galaxy. This panel contains the most dust lanes of M31. The satellite dwarf elliptical galaxy M32 is at the upper left corner.

Exposures: Ha:L:R:G:B = 450:210:95:95:90 minutes = 15 hours, 40 minutes total exposure, completely unguided.
